Join amazing author/illustrators CHRIS RIDDELL and VIVIANE SCHWARZ for a cosy hour of storytelling and drawing to celebrate their beautiful new picture book I WILL HAUNT THIS.
I WILL HAUNT THIS is the story of a little ghost who is looking for a new home – somewhere old, cosy and made with love.
Chris and Viv will entertain children with a reading of the story accompanied by Chris’s incredible live drawing, projected onto a screen with music, plus there will be a chance for children to draw along with Viv.
ABOUT THE EVENT
This picture book event is suitable for children of 4 years and up. Accompanying adults don’t need to buy a ticket, and are welcome to stay and watch. Viv and Chris encourage any grownups who know how, to have a go at knitting or crocheting a square for their collaborative ghost quilt! The event will take place in the large rear kitchen / diner room out back of the bookshop. It might be a bit of a squash and a squeeze so we are sorry but there will not be space for pushchairs.
Child tickets are £5 each and are redeemable to get £5 off purchase of the book (£8.99)
ABOUT CHRIS RIDDELL & VIVIANE SCHWARZ
Viviane Schwarz is the author-illustrator of the highly acclaimed picture books There Are Cats in this Book and There Are No Cats in this Book, both of which have been shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal. Viviane has also illustrated Ergo and I Am Henry Finch, written by Alexis Deacon. Her own author-illustrated picture books include Sometimes You Find a Dragon. Viviane lives in Brighton, and also works as a game designer and installation artist.
Chris Riddell, OBE, is one of the country’s finest children’s book illustrators, and was Children’s Laureate from 2015–17. He has won the Kate Greenaway Medal three times – for Pirate Diary, Gulliver’s Travels and The Sleeper and the Spindle. Chris is a political cartoonist for the Observer, and his author illustrated work includes the highly-acclaimed Ottoline and Goth Girl titles. He has won numerous other awards, including the Costa Children’s Book Award with Goth Girl and the Ghost of a Mouse. Chris lives in Brighton, and you can find him on Instagram as @chris_riddell.
